Sports Update - 2018

Welcome back, we are gearing up for another action packed year of sport at St Francis of Assisi School. 

In Term 1 we have the following events/competitions coming up:

Cricket Year 5/6 (Girls) - Trials Monday 5 February 

Cricket Year 7/8 (Mixed) - Trials Wednesday 7 February 

SFoA Swimming Sports - Tuesday 13 February @ Jellie Park (Year 5/6)

Touch - Wednesday 14 February @ Macfarlane Park

Miniball - Thursday 22 February @ Bishopdale YMCA

SFoA Duathlon - Date TBC

Waterpolo Trials - Date TBC

Winter Sport Trials - Date TBC

Please find some details about the school Swimming Sports and Touch below. More information will be coming out about both of these early next week. 

Swimming Sports

On Tuesday 13 February St Francis of Assisi School will be holding our School Swimming Sports. This event will be held at Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre from 12.00 - 3.00pm, and will involve all Tumu and Kaupeka students (Years 5-8). 

When we send the information out about this next week, it will include a Google Form, which students will use to sign up for their events. It would great if you could talk to your children about this information and help them to choose events that accurately reflect their ability.

Children will be expected to enter a minimum of two events, races will be 50m and 25m for those confident to swim those distances, however we will also run other events for swimmers who are not confident to swim 25m or 50m.

We are going to need lots of parents support for this event, so if you are able to assist us with this please indicate that on the Google Form next week.

Touch 

Touch will start back on Wednesday 14 February. We will be posting the draw each week on the blog. Unless we have been told about any students no longer wanting to play we have assumed all players will be playing again this term. We are finalising the team early next week and then will post on the blog. If you are a parent of a child who would like to start playing touch this season, and have not  already let us know, please email maree.scott@stfrancischch.school.nz
