Swimming Sports

Kia ora Whānau

The St Francis of Assisi Swimming Sports is being held on:

Friday 24 February
9.45 am - 2.00 pm
Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre

The aim of the Swimming Sports is to give the children the experience of being involved in a School Swimming Sport event and to also select a team of children who will represent St Francis of Assisi at the Zone Swimming Sports. Heats and finals will be held for the 25m and 50m races, however only those swimming in 50m races will be eligible to be selected for the school's zone team.

The children will travel by bus to and from Jellie Park the cost of this will be deducted from your child's activity fee.

Children will need to bring the following NAMED items:
- Swimming togs (children will need to be wearing these to school under their PE uniform)
- Towel
- Cap and goggles if required
- Water bottle
- A healthy lunch with extra snacks

Children can enter in up to four events, however cannot enter different distances of the same stroke.

At our swimming sports we cater for varying abilities. You know your child's swimming ability so you will be able to guide them to the events most appropriate for them.

Children entering the 50m races need to be able to competently swim this distance. If your child, for some reason, is unable to take part in the swimming sports please see your child's home base teacher.

To run this event we do require parent help. The jobs are easy and you will still get to see your child compete in their events. Please indicate on the Google Form below if you are able to assist us on the day. Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you have any queries or concerns about this please feel free to email us at maree.scott@stfranischch.school.nz or whitney.hansen@stfrancischch.school.nz.
