North Zone Swimming Sports

For those who have been selected to represent St Francis of Assisi School at the North Zone Swimming Sports here is some information about the event.

This event is being held on:

Date: Tuesday 14 March

Time: 12pm-3pm

Venue: Jellie Park Recreation and Sport Centre

Students will be racing in their same age group as they were in at the School Swimming Sports, age taken as at January 1st, 2017, and all races will be 50m, two lengths of the pool.

The children will travel by bus to and from Jellie Park. There is no payment expected for this, as school will be covering this cost.

On the day children will need to bring the following NAMED items with them on the day:  

- Towel

- Swimming togs*

- Cap and goggles (optional)

- Water bottle

- A packed lunch, with extra snacks

*Girls are to wear one piece togs and both girls and boys are not to wear underwear underneath their togs.

Children will be released early from class to get changed into their togs under their PE uniform before we leave for the event. They are encouraged to wear their PE Uniform to and from school that day.

To help run this event we are required to provide 3 helpers on the day. Those that can assist us with this will still get to see their child compete in their events.  Please indicate on the form below if you are able to help us with this on the day. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Leading up to this event we will be going to Jellie Park for a training session at the following times:

9 Years & 10 Years Boys & Girls - Friday 10 March 9.00am - 10.00am

11 Years & 12 Years Boys & Girls - Friday 10 March 10.00am - 11.00am

We will travel to and from the pool in either the school van or by car on that day. Students will just need to bring their togs, a towel, cap and goggles (if they choose to wear them). Students will wear school uniform on this day and will not need to bring their PE uniform.

Those students at the North Zone Event that qualify for the Canterbury Primary Schools Championships, will compete on Thursday April 6, at the Selwyn Aquatic Centre.

All the same rules for the Canterbury Primary Schools Championships will apply at the North Zone Event and these can be found here.
